President Donald Trump arrived in Las Vegas on Saturday. According to AP News, he visited Circa Resort & Casino, where he spoke with players and casino staff.
Trump spent about 40 minutes at the casino, using the time to mock his predecessor Joe Biden’s administration, thank his supporters in the state for backing him in last year’s election, and highlight one of his campaign promises.
He reiterated his plan to eliminate taxes on tip income, a move that would directly benefit workers in the hospitality industry, including casino employees.
Speaking at Circa Resort & Casino, Trump reaffirmed his commitment: “We’re gonna get it for you — no tax on tips. Your tips will be 100% yours.”
His visit to Nevada in the first week of his presidency is seen as a nod to the state’s role in his November election victory. Trump became the first Republican to carry Nevada since George W. Bush in 2004.
Beyond his speech to about 1,000 supporters, Trump walked through the casino floor, where patrons chanted “USA, USA” upon seeing him. At one roulette table, a player bet $47 on 47 — marking Trump’s status as the 47th president. The bet lost, prompting Trump to express his disappointment.
As Trump moved through the casino, reporters shouted questions, drawing frustration from a craps player who told them to back off. “I’m actually trying to play here,” he said. Trump took notice and praised the gambler: “You’re doing great.”
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Donald Trump Jr. has taken on a key advisory role at the sports betting platform Kalshi.
