Errol Musk, father of the renowned Tesla CEO Elon Musk, reminisced with The US Sun about a daring casino escapade involving his sons at Marula Sun in Pretoria, South Africa.

The year was the mid-1980s, and Elon Musk, then only 16, alongside his brother Kimbal, ventured into the world of gambling under their father’s watch.

Disguised in adult attire to pass for 18, the Musk brothers managed to slip past casino security.

The Musks’ game of choice? Roulette. Errol Musk shared that they initially employed a straightforward strategy, alternating bets between red and black, which proved successful for a fortnight.

However, luck is fickle, and the Musks soon faced the harsh reality of gambling: a losing streak that saw the same color come up 14 times in a row. “It was almost as though the casino was rigged and suspicions still linger!” Errol muses.

The streak culminated in a loss of roughly 9000 Rand (equivalent to about $500 today), prompting the family to abandon their casino ventures.

Years later, Errol Musk claimed to have cracked the roulette code, a secret strategy he suggests Elon used to win over $42,000 at a Las Vegas casino during Kimbal’s bachelor party in 2001.

The specifics of this strategy? That remains Errol Musk’s little secret.
