What do you do when your marriage turns 21? If you’re John and Kristina Mehaffey, you go on a casino spree in Las Vegas and its surroundings, visiting 93 different gambling venues in 24 hours.
The couple decided to mark their 21st wedding anniversary by playing in as many casinos as possible in a single day (since 21 is the legal gambling age in the US) and set an unofficial world record for the most casinos visited in a day, according to KTNV Las Vegas.
The couple planned their route carefully, using Google Maps and a premade list of stops and gaming times for each casino. They managed to hit over 90 casinos, including MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, Cosmopolitan, Wynn, Bellagio, and Circa.
Circa was the last stop on their whirlwind tour.
The couple said they preferred playing Keno and used symbolic numbers (reflecting their wedding date and the casino number) to play. It’s unclear if this strategy paid off for them.
By visiting 93 casinos in 24 hours, the couple set a world record for the most casinos visited in a day. However, this record is unofficial, because they didn’t meet a certain requirement from a Guinness World Records sponsor. The sponsor said they had to visit a specific number of casinos with live tables, which the couple didn’t do.
The official world record for the most casinos visited in a day belongs to another gambling-loving couple (Kimo Ah Yun and Gary Meyer) who played in 74 casinos in 2017.
